Custom Discharge Instructions

Customized discharge instructions can save considerable time otherwise spent explaining verbally, while providing patients and family with written instructions that they can refer to later.

1. Click on patient education. Make sure this is in English regardless of the intended language.
   
   
2. Choose a preassigned note (steps 2 to 6 only necessary first time)
   
   
3. Delete the prewritten contents of the preassigned note
   
   
4. Save the blank note
   
   
5. Assign a name for your custom note
   
   
6. Delete the random note from your list of assignments
   
   
7. Search for your blank/custom note by assigned title. Note that the selected language is still English.
   
   
8. Type in custom instructions for your patient in the preferred language. You can use Google translate to aid in these instructions.
   
   
9. Add relevant instructions for any medications or other condition. The desired language will need to be selected from the dropdown above.
