Hepatitis
Hepatitis A
- Incubation period: 1-2 weeks?
- Vaccination
- Ideally two vaccinations six months apart
- Children vaccinated between 12-13 months of age
- Immunoglobulin
- HAV Immunoglobulin considered for houshold contacts of patients with acute hepatitis A.
- When administered within 2 weeks, 80-90% effective.
- When administered later, may not prevent HAV, but can attenuate symptoms.
Hepatitis B
- Incubation period: 2-3 months
- Window period: check core IgM and HBsAg
