| Benign febrile non-hemolytic transfusion reaction | Fever immediately |
| Acute hemolytic transfusion reaction | Fever immediately, followed by Tachycardia, shock, flank pain, hemoglobinuria (muddy brown urine without RBCs) |

Management
- Concern for acute hemolytic transfusion reaction
- Stop transfusion
- Take care of patient (meds, fluids, oxygen)
- Call blood bank
- Peripheral smear
- Direct/indirect Coombs
- Other hemolysis labs
Other
- All pRBCs are leukoreduced at LAC+USC
- Preparing for Blood
- Blood type: ABO/Rh status, <15 minutes (for lab)
- Screen: 15-30 minutes (for lab)
- Cross: 30-60 minutes (for lab), highly variable
